Tournament time is upon me now. I remember in junior high getting the sports page and looking at all the scores to see who had wone and was advancing. At the time I was a UC fan, back in the day when they were in the conference USA and were winning the league title year after year. I loved the bearcats and hated the kentucky wildcats. I would get excited whenever the wildcats were losing.
Historically I never have done very well picking a bracket. This year is not off to a very good start either, I picked minnesota and texas to do well and they lost right away. Half of my final four is done already, and the first weekend is not even over.
The worst luck I can think of was my junior year of high school, or kenyon martins senior year of college. He broke his knee or leg somehow in the conference tournament and was done for the year. UC had a real good shot at being the national champions that year, and still got a 1 seed despite that injury. I couldn't believe it when our assistant coach came to basketball practice and told us the bad news. I didn't believe him.
One year I had to watch the NIT because ohio state made didn't make the big tourney. I tried to figure it out, but all I know is that the teams have some home games and OSU ended up winning the whole thing. Last year as soon as OSU was upset in the first round, I quit watching. I plan to do the same thing this year.
In other news, I had a very easy day subbing today. For some reason a principal thought he needed a sub and aparently I was just the guy for the job. I got to finish my big red machine book, and took it easy nearly all day. Subbing is usually easy money, but today was especially easy.
