A week or three ago, I made a change that may stick with me for a long time. I had been seeing the commercials on TV for a sprint/nextel plan that offered unlimited everything for a family plan. I realized that I could sign my dad, grandpa and me up on a family plan, get unlimited everything and pay about the same as I was before. I was also conveniently up for a new phone, so I went into the store and made it happen. I was considering either the clutch model with its rugged features, or a blackberry with its does everything feature. I went with the blackberry mainly due to being on the new plan, I would be able to text and web browse all I wanted and that would be easier on a blackberry. So far that has proven to be true and I am pretty content with it, minus two accounts. First, the web browser is a bit slow, but that has more to do with the nextel network needing an upgrade, which I have read is happening. Second, I can't seem to get my sirius app to work, which has more to do with my network than anything else. Other than that I am pretty happy. I bought a good case for when I inevitably drop my phone, I can now send text messages and even discovered that a blackberry gets me in an elitist group of messenging that I didn't know existed. I can check the grain market and do some browsing when I want. I can walkie talkie my bosses limitlessly now and even do free group connect which will be cool when they realize what is happening. I do have to worry about how much dirt and grime I might get on the keyboard. With the case I got, the keyboard is exposed and I have way to much dirt and hay chaff to mindlessly ignore what could happen to that. The charger port is also exposed, but is a usb style charger so I don't think I need to worry about it as much. My dad and grandpa have lower model phones, so they don't get to advantage the new plan in quite the same way, but they are spending less so I don't see why they would complain much. I am also getting used to typing with my thumbs. It is going okay, but I have big hands and digits that have been able to palm basketballs since the 7th grade.
I also have a bit of a gripe now. I came home today and decided that I was going to get my work desk all set up and cleaned off some. I put my PC laptop in its spot and started PC'ing away. I was doing some simple browsing and upgrading and kept getting constant interuptions and unexpected shutdowns. I now remember why I went over to a mac. The typing seems a bit easier on my PC, but the mac does everything else better.
