CTC considerations.

The past three days I have subbed at a vocational school, and the atmosphere in that building is way different. The students constantly have their phones out, all manners of cussing are happening and very little effort is being put towards learning or achieving anything academic. For the most part, the teachers I seen tolerate this for a reason I don't know. They may stress academics more when they are in charge or present, but the past three days, I have gotten less than 50 words of what the students should be doing. I do think most of the kids are benefiting from being in such a program, but have to wonder how desperate things are for them on the weekends. I overheard all kinds of drinking and sex partners comparison stories from the students and really felt sad. As young as they are, and they are out rushing around doing things as if they planned on not living much longer. I sure hope that if I get to be a parent one day, I will have more control over my brood than what I am hearing from those students.

I also had to do some handiwork around here. My two flusher post must have been a bit of a premonition to what happened, but I spent all afternoon working on my toilet. As the great Red Green says, "if the women don't find you handsome, at least they'll find you handy." I can't decide if my house smells funny or not now, but if the weather holds up, I will have the windows open letting all kinds of fresh air in anyways.

My mom had her birthday today and hit the century mark. We finally went to a restaurant around here that didn't serve alcohol and had a nice meal. I thought we might go to the old y, but went to the country inn out by the new clinic instead.
