My middle name

I have a unique link to St. Patricks day. No, I don't claim to be any particular part irish. No, I don't drink dark beer all day long or on any other occasion. No, I don't follow St. Paticks ideology to the T. My middle name is Patrick, my mother named me that after the saint. All I really know abou the person is he introduced christianity to a large part of ireland, and used the three leaf clover to as a type of pnemonic device to remember the holy trinity of the father, son, and, holy spirit.

Speaking of saints, I have had some thoughts about all the saints. Now, I do like my chrisitanity, esepcially being a catholic. I do wonder why we need so many saints for so many seemingly small things. A quick google search gave me an entire list of saints to pray to for special purposes. I have to wonder why praying to God won't fulfill any of those needs. I know or at least think the saints did some outstanding work for God during their life, and mabye this is how they get rewarded. I prefer to pray to God for any and all of my issues, at least as of now.

My favorite St. Patricks day was back in 2006. I was dating someone who was working in illinois at the time, and I decided to surprise her for the weekend. So during the week, I tried to convince her to buy some extra groceries, and then drove up to her place on a thursday to surprise her. Unfortunately for her, I got there an hour or four early, and it was St. Patricks day. So after a while of waiting in my car, I realized there was a sports bar across the street that had green beer and the start of the NCAA tournament. So I went in and got good and lit, let her in on the surprise after a while, and enjoyed the rest of the weekend with her.

  1. I got into a nice little arguement with a guy I dated when I was in high school about praying to saints. I don't understand why Catholics pray to saints when God sent his son to die for our sins and to be a mediator for us, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.
