family ties

Because of a recent death in the extended family, I have had the chance to further explore how all the Hauke's of the area are related. I am mainly writing this down so that I can reference this later when I have a question.

Charles would be my great great grandfather. He had five kids.

Betty was the youngest and only daughter. She lives in Florida now, as does most of her progeny.

Elmer was the oldest boy and nothing was known of him by my grandparents.

Carl had Jim, Tom, Evelyn, and Kate. Tom had Kevin, and another daughter and son. I can't remember their names at the moment. Jim had a daughter who married a Mallott, which is how the Mallott's are related to us.

Harold had Charlie, Vick, Betty, Donnie, and Carolyn. Charlie married Mary Ruth and had Chris and Janey, who had Chad, Charlie, and Jackie.

Rolland, my great-grandfather, had Richard, Gerald, Jenny, and Mary Lou. Richard had Kenny and Barb. Gerald had Doug, Jamie, and Randall. Jenny had Kip, and adopted Ronnie. Mary Lou had Tim, but maybe had others that I can't recall at this time.

I had never quite figured out how Chris and Jim and Tom and them were related to me. This helped today, and I am sure that I will hear more about it this saturday at the funeral of Chris's mom.

In other news, my house is a bit of a habitat for wildlife. I have seen a snake that is contemplating a retreat to the outside. He is sticking his head out from under the siding at the back of my house and not going any further. I once found a snake skin in some work shirts that had fallen on the ground on my basement stairs. It was a kind of big snake skin, and the part of the snake I can see looks pretty big. I also had a bat flying around my room last night when I wanted to go to bed. I "batted" the bat down with a t-shirt, caught it, and then threw it outside a window. Hopefully I can either not find any more critters, or they all leave the house.
