Cumberland

This weekend I went to lake cumberland with my sister, her husband, and another friend. My brother in laws father has a house and a boat down that way. Being a yes man, I said YES, I will go with you guys and pal around. I figured I might as well go since it was going to be raining here saturday. We got in late friday, played some cards and went to bed. Saturday we did some boating and swimming. The in laws had a fun tube to pull behind the boat, and it was fun falling off. Some of the money that people put in the houseboats is unbelievable. I couldn't hardly believe that a house boat with two stories, a bar, a water slide and a bunch of other fancy stuff only cost 150,000, but that was the number guesstimated by officer Dan. The father with the house and boat down there is a retired cop. He lives in some area where other retired cops live and is also apparently the dockmaster. My brother in law acts like he doesn't get along with him or his mother in law, but he did seem pretty content with them compared to the last time I was there. The last time I was there was after my sister got engaged, when we stopped in on the way back from oneida tennessee to celebrate. We did stop and look at a house that is going to be auctioned near the lake. It would be cool to have a place to go to get away like that, but money is hard to come by unemployed folk like me.

I also managed to avoid jury duty for this week. I did get some paperwork to be on federal jury duty for the month of september. I'm not sure why I never blogged about that yet.

My PHS teacher called and is having her baby sometime soon, so I will making the drive to peebles high school for the next two months or so. That should be fun, but her entire curricula that she left me seems kind of simple. Sure, I don't know the student body at that school, and she has 90% freshman and sophomores, but most everything is straight from the book. It may be hard for me to teach and assign dull book assignments. I just have to remember that as a sub, it is not my job to decide what the kids learn, I have to do what the missing teacher asks of me.

  1. I got the papers for jury duty too. Hopefully they don't call me for jury duty.
