the banjo

today was a busy day. First I planted all of the flowers in my flower beds that I rototilled up. Then dad, grandpa, my two cousins and me walked through about 20 acres of tobacco patches resetting missed and or dead plants. After that I played the banjo for about 30 minutes-smoke on the water is almost recognizable- and then watched the movie "wanted." The movie was okay but I thought the main assassin character was a bit exagerrated.

I first started attempting to play the banjo when I became exceptionally bored. I was 24 and had a birthday coming up so I told my parents I wanted a banjo so I could learn to play some. Every so often I get the thing out and spend about half an hour or so picking around. I have no real aspirations of being especially good or making any new songs, it is just a hobby I decided on. I chose the banjo because I wanted to play something and the guitar seemed a little to commonplace.

I should be signing off on the mortage for my house pretty soon. I am looking forward to having it in my name and then spending some more money on improving what is here.

I also found part of an arrowhead today walking through the tobacco fields, which is pretty cool. Maybe one day I will have a decent collection.

Tommorrow I plan on putting some mulch on my flower patches. Then I don't know what dad and grandpa are going to want to do.
